Online Auction Sites

There are hundreds of auction sites available on the internet; some only offering a service to buyers, but many also offering you the opportunity to sell your own items.
Although most sites run traditional style auctions, there are a number that offer an alternative, such as:
- Sealed Bid: You submit a confidential bid amount; the highest bid wins.
- Reverse Auction: You submit a confidential bid amount; the lowest unique bid wins.
- Traditional Dutch: The bidding starts at its highest amount, and slowly decreases throughout the auction duration. Anyone may stop the auction when the price reaches the amount they are willing to pay. The first person to stop the clock wins the auction.
- Online Dutch: Used for multiple listings. Enter a bid amount, and the number of items you want. There will be a number of winners, depending on how many items each person has bid for. All the winners will pay the price that the lowest winning bidder submitted.
Online auction sites are available all over the world, and in fact, the most famous site, eBay, has listings in over 23 countries. However, it is often better to use a UK based site, as you will be better protected by the law if anything should go wrong.
Our Top 10 list brings you the pick of the most popular and highest-rating UK based internet auction sites. However, do bear in mind that each site has its pros and cons, and you should check them out carefully to decide which fits your needs the best.
